Walk towards the large blue Herbert Woods boat hire building, and follow the path that goes down the left side adjacent to the river.
Walk 100m to go over the footbridge at the marina entrance, then walk about 200m to find Windy ridge, it’s number 26 (the numbers go down as you get further from the bridge). It has solar panels on the roof facing you and a sign on the gate with our logo and website.
You are welcome to moor your own or a hire boat at the property, we keep our own boat to the right of the dock which leaves approximately 27 feet of space.
The Norada Grill & Tavern
Costa will give you a warm welcome at the Norada relaxed family pub, the closest to windy ridge adjacent to the bridge.
The Nippy Chippy On The Broads
Just the other side of the old bridge there is a highly rated fish and chip shop.

10 minutes walk to the Falgate Inn located in Potter Heigham village centre with an interesting menu .
The Lion at Thurne
If you are hiring a day boat, the Lion is a pleasant 45 minute cruise away from Windy Ridge.

The Weaver's Way is a 61 mile footpath following the old trackbed of the Aylsham to Great Yarmouth railway line. It can be picked up at the bridge and runs along the opposite side of the river.
There is a fishing shop next to the old bridge.
Coarse fishing (close season) is not permitted from 15th March to 15th June and there’s a heavy fine if you are caught fishing illegally (£2500). Coarse fish are freshwater fish such as bream, barbel, pike, gudgeon, chub, perch, roach and rudd.
You’ll need a rod licence to fish (during any part of the season). A fishing licence runs from 1st April to 31st March. You can buy one from the Post Office or on the Environment Agency website. Children under 12 don’t need a rod licence while children between 12 and 16 do need one but it’s free.
